This virtual classroom is designed for those new to, or who are wishing to develop, their knowledge of adults with incapacity.
The course will first focus on the general principles of adults with incapacity and how those principles translate into practice.
With sessions on powers of attorney, guardianship, access to funds and intervention orders, the role of attorneys and guardians will be closely examined with guidance on what to do when you are worried about the way they are acting. Capacity assessing will then be examined - how can one make the call of capable or incapable?
After consideration of the legal position and what happens in practice, you will develop a checklist for assessing capacity to take with you into your own practice.
Presented by the vastly experienced former Public Guardian, Sandra McDonald, case studies and group work will be utilised throughout the course to reinforce your learning.
This virtual classroom supports the achievement of PEAT2 outcomes through substantive and relevant legal knowledge.
