The Money Laundering (Etc) Regulations 2017 require every law firm in Scotland to have a suite of documents, including a firm-wide risk assessment and a set of policies, controls and procedures to manage those risks.
This virtual classroom is suitable for solicitors (especially MLROs) who are unsure where to start, or are unsure if their current policies are sufficiently robust. It will be highly participative, with a focus on peer-to-peer learning, facilitated by the course leader. Following the virtual classroom, participants will:
- know what the 2017 Regulations require of their firm
- understand how properly drafted policies can assist in safeguarding against issues with the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002
- understand what each of the rules within the 2017 Regulations requires
- have been given the opportunity to sketch-out draft policies
- be able to finalise a set of robust policies for partnership approval
This virtual classroom is NOT suitable for Trainees
