It is estimated that one in three people are affected by mental illness in any one year.
This timely course will consider:
- the impact of Covid-19 on law and practice
- MH v MHTS - anonymity and telephone hearings - the appeal story so far
- recent UK case law; ECHR principles on deprivation of liberty and the treatment for mental illness
- the impact of the UN Convention on the Rights of People With Disabilities
- recent Scottish legislative changes and Tribunal procedure developments.
This course will be presented by Scott Blair, an advocate with Terra Firma Chambers and a Legal Convener of the Mental Health Tribunal for Scotland.
Scott has much experience of mental health law and practice including acting in appeals and judicial reviews as well as in giving general legal advice. Chambers UK describes him as a “standout practitioner” in public and administrative law. He is also on the “A” Panel of Counsel to the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
