Shareholders quite simply are no longer "silent partners" in a company. Long gone are the days of "sleepy" AGMs, which are now much more robust affairs characterised by shareholders flexing their muscles. A number of high profile companies have hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons. In some instances, shareholder rebellions have even led to the exit of a company's C-Suite team. The pattern is now there for all to see: shareholders are emboldened, and increasingly their bite is worse than their bark.
This webinar will help those solicitors who advise boards to better support their clients through potentially challenging AGMs. By undertaking this training participants will:
- develop knowledge about the “Shareholder Spring"
- understand the keyreasons for shareholder rebellions(including executive pay and climate plans)
- understand consequences of shareholder rebellions (including adverse publicity, reduction in corporate value and C-suite departures)
- develop knowledge about how to prepare for a shareholder rebellion
- understand how to help a client improve their corporate governance
