The Society of Law Accountants in Scotland exists to promote the education and advancement of individuals with a view to assisting them in becoming proficient in all aspects of law accounting.

Our objective is to provide an organisation for people employed in accountancy work in Scottish law firms, in which they can meet with others with a view to the interchange of opinion on questions of practice. Our regular branch meetings give facilities for members to hear talks by various speakers and for organising discussion groups.

The Society's classes, assessed by an appointed Board of Examiners, now emphasise Cashroom Accounting, Executries, and Feeing, each taught over a term. The one-year course allows students to choose one, two, or all three modules, with completion of all three modules granting eligibility for Associate Membership with The Society of Law Accountants in Scotland. The Society's main committees include the General Council, the Education Examination Board, and the Local Branch Committees, each comprised of elected members responsible for overseeing different aspects of the Society's operations, such as overall management, education and examination regulation, and local branch affairs, with members serving specified terms and appointments made by SOLAS councils. The Society's platform is specifically tailored to legal accounting professionals, potentially offering positions that align closely with one's expertise and career aspirations within the legal sector. Additionally, The Society of Law Accountants in Scotland may offer job opportunities that are not readily available through general job search platforms, thus increasing the likelihood of finding relevant and suitable positions in the field.
