Alasdair Johnstone, a Partner of Anderson Strathern, is a former property lawyer who has turned to the dark side of tax. Alasdair previously worked on commercial, rural and residential matters but now provides advice on all aspects of tax as they apply to property. Alasdair therefore has both the knowledge of tax and the real-world experience of a property transaction to provide holistic and practical guidance to his clients. As well as covering “the big three” of income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax, Alasdair also speaks often on Land and Buildings Transaction Tax and the dreaded Additional Dwelling Supplement and routinely provides opinion work for other professionals on these complex taxes. Alasdair is also a member of the Law Society of Scotland’s Tax Committee and a member of STEP.
