Professor David Caberlli was appointed as a lecturer in law at Edinburgh University in 2007 and was promoted to Professor in 2018. Prior to that, he was a solicitor in private practice. His main interests lie in the fields of commercial law, commercial contract law, company law and employment law. David’s articles and research have been cited with approval by the domestic superior and international courts, e.g. Lord Glennie in Lonedale Ltd. v Scottish Motor Auctions (Holdings) Ltd. [2011] CSOH 4, Lords Hope, Wilson and Sumption in the UK Supreme Court in Société Générale (London Branch) v Geys [2012] UKSC 63; [2013] 1 AC 523, as well as the Federal Court of Australia, the Supreme Court of South Australia and His Honour Justice Chu in the Hong Kong High Court in the case of Sunny Tadjudin v Bank of America, National Association [2009] 4 HKC 507. David’s other work is frequently cited by law reform bodies worldwide, e.g. the Law Commission and the Scottish Law Commission, as well as the House of Commons Library.
