Chala McKenna

Having previously worked in-house for the regulator, the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA), Chala McKenna of Davidson Chalmers Stewart has wide ranging experience in all environmental matters with particular expertise in the waste and resources sector, issues relating to water and dealing with compliance and enforcement. Working for SEPA has afforded Chala valuable insight into what is required and expected when dealing with matters of legal analysis, interpretation and ensuring compliance. As a former litigator she has insight into court process and procedures and is adept at finding commercially viable solutions for private and public sector clients alike. Chala is one of only three Law Society of Scotland Accredited Environmental Law Specialists. Chala is an active member of the UK Environmental Law Association (UKELA) and active affiliate member and the Environmental Services Association (ESA) and Resource Management Association Scotland (RMAS). Chala regularly delivers internal and external training on environmental law and has written articles for the Scotsman and industry publications such as ENDs. She conducts due diligence, provides advice in relation to environmental risks and how best to mitigate it, facilitates negotiation with SEPA, Revenue Scotland and other parties and works with other teams within Davidson Chalmers Stewart such as renewables projects and property, planning, corporate and healthcare to provide a complete and seamless service to clients.
