Deborah Carroll joined COPFS in 1992 as a trainee solicitor. She was promoted to a Principal Procurator Fiscal Depute in 2001 and carried out a number of leadership roles across various areas of COPFS in operational, policy and specialist roles. She was promoted to Assistant Procurator Fiscal and has served as Deputy Procurator Fiscal, APF in the Scottish Fatalities and Investigation Unit and more recently as Head of the Health and Safety Investigation Unit, APF with responsibilities across Scotland for the Wildlife and Environmental Crime Unit, the Death in Custody Unit and Health and Safety Investigation Unit.
