Emma Toner

Emma Toner is an Advocate with Compass Chambers. Emma's principal areas of practice are regulatory crime and fatal accident inquiries. She has been instructed in numerous Fatal Accident Inquiries, involving a broad spectrum of issues, and has appeared in Inquiries on behalf of companies, public bodies, professionals and private individuals. Recent instructions have included acting on behalf of the aircraft manufacturer in the Inquiry into the deaths at the Clutha Bar, Glasgow, and on behalf of the aircraft manufacturer in the Inquiry into the deaths following the Superpuma ditching at Sumburgh in 2013. Emma also has experience of Inquiries under the 2005 Act and is currently appearing in the Scottish Hospitals Inquiry and the Scottish Covid-19 Inquiry. In 2020, Emma was appointed as Editor of Session Cases law reports.
