Ian Thornton-Kemsley

Ian Thornton-Kemsley wrote the specialist chapter on the valuation of radio mast sites and telecommunication cables in the textbook Valuations: Special Properties and Purposes published by Estates Gazette Ltd (IBSN 0-7282-0418-5). He is the author of the Scottish Land & Estates advisory paper on radio masts and has been heavily involved in a textbook of the new Code for the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers. Ian has given expert evidence before various courts including the Court of Session (Commercial Division), County Courts in England and Sheriff Courts in Scotland in respect of lease renewals, actions for breach of lease, rental valuations and negligence claims regarding radio masts. He was the arbitrator on the Bridgewater case which led to the Law Commission proposals for reform of the electronic communications code and advised both the Law Commission and DCMS in the reform process.
