Dr Daniel Carter of Keith Carter & Associates is an independent Employment Expert specialising in undertaking labour market assessments and commenting on employment issues for the Courts in Scotland, England, Wales, and Ireland. He has extensive experience in preparing expert reports and giving oral evidence on behalf of Pursuers, Defenders, and in jointly instructed cases. Dr Carter regularly provides expert evidence in family law matters, in addition to cases concerning personal injury, medical negligence, disability discrimination, and equal pay. In this context, he assesses how marriage/cohabitation has affected one or both parties’ past and/or future career trajectories and earnings. His work has covered a wide range of occupational areas, including professional roles such as Lawyers, Accountants, and Executive Directors, to more niche careers, including a Croupier, HGV Driver, and Equestrian Centre Manager. Several cases have had an international element, which has involved assessing careers in France, Germany, the United States, and China. Dr Carter has a background in academia, and prior to his work as an expert witness, he was employed as an Academic Researcher and Lecturer at the University of Leiden, Netherlands.
