Dr Gabrielle Watson is Chancellor’s Fellow (or Assistant Professor) at Edinburgh Law School. She is the author of the award-winning book Respect and Criminal Justice and Editor of Sentencing, Public Opinion, and Criminal Justice: Essays in Honour of Julian V Roberts. Gabrielle returned to Scotland in 2023 after a decade at the University of Oxford, where she was most recently the Shaw Foundation Fellow and Tutor in Law at Lincoln College. She has held Visiting Fellowships at the University of Cambridge and the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Crime, Security and Law in Freiburg, Germany. In January 2024, Gabrielle was appointed by the Lord Justice General to the Criminal Courts Rules Council for a three-year term.
